Corrosion resistance / Oxidation resistance
Corrosion resistance or oxidation resistance is a necessary property for metals to be able to withstand various environmental conditions such as sunlight, humidity, heat, acidity-base, etc.
Corrosion is caused by chemical reactions between metals and environment, such as water or moisture and oxygen, resulting in corrosion of the metal until it ceases to operate prematurely, also known as rusting. In addition, corrosion rate is depending on temperature. If the temperature is higher, oxygen and metal will have faster reaction. We can slow down corrosion rate of metal in several methods.
The most popular, convenient, and effective method is to coat certain substances on metal surface to prevent metal from direct contact with oxygen and moisture. The coating helps to resist corrosion and also makes the part have more beautiful appearance.
